NIL TAX CODE

Hello everyone from a very sunny but cold Cornwall.

As some of you may know I was discharged at the end of December. My husband was given a NT code and has been paying Moon Beever for a few months now. He has 1 more payment to make, end of this month and that will be that. However he hasnt received a letter about his new tax code yet. When is this normally sent out? I have a feeling it is not going to be put in place in time.

Thank you.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

I knew you were going to suggest that lol. It's just that my husband is away and cant call them and if I phone I know for a fact they wont talk to me. I think all I can do is carry on putting aside his tax (the amount that we have been paying Moon Beever) and then get him to sort it out when he gets home.

Also If they cant seem to get the TC right, then somewhere down the line they could ask us to pay tax that we havent paid enough of then, even if it's their fault not getting the TC right 1st time. Is this correct?

Thanks again.

They can't seem to cope with a normal tax code at the moment (and are completely useless when you have the misfortune to phone them) so I would suggest that anyone on an NT code gives them a call.

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

32 IPA payments made, 4 to go - the end is in sight!

There were a few posts on the board last year just after the tax year started as people on a NT code hadn't received their 'normal' tax code so I would definitely give HMRC a quick call just to remind them.

It might be worth him contacting HMRC about this as I know they are having problems with tax codes at the moment - I've had 6 notices of coding already and it's still not right.
