Hi, If I were made banktrupt could I be asked to move from my rented 1 bed flat and move into something smaller? I'm worried that I'll be asked to move into a shared house or bedsit. Many thanks |

As the others have said the OR will not question your living accommodation provided it is not particularly excessive for the area. £695 for Herts sounds very reasonable so I can't see it being a problem.
If you lived, as a single person, in a 4 bedroom house that cost £1500 then it would be an issue but a 1 bed flat at £695 will be fine. |

No problem - I wish you well in your journey - use this forum - its free and available to all and has helped lots of people.
I found it after I petitioned for BR and it has been very useful for me and my family.

Thank you for your reply - I'm so relieved! I had visions of having to move into a bedsit or shared house.
It's only a small one bed flat at £695 a month, which is exactly that same (give or take £50) as all the others in the area (Hertfordshire). My rent is always paid on time and I've never had any arrears. I did wonder my landlord could refuse to renew my agreement when it's due if I were bankrupt.

Hi
Is the property you rent too large for your needs? I suspect not if it is a one bed.
Is the rental excessively high? If not, i.e. a market rent for an assured shorthold tenancy.
I do not think for one minute that you will be asked to share - the OR does not have such a power
He/she may contact your landlord - you can show your tenancy agreement and a rental payment statem,ent and say you are concerned the landlord may ask you to leave - although this should not happen, unless there are arrears or some other breach of tenancy.
I do not think from what you have described, you will have any difficulty.
