We''ve been given a court date for Thursday 29th April at 1.30pm....my husband and I will be declaring ourselves BR.

I feel sick with worry, just want to get it over with now.

Is there any point in me telling creditors yet? I have unplugged the landline but am getting several calls per day on my mobile....and am extremely worried about someone coming to our home.

Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks x

Thanks Guys,

That's what I needed to hear.....didn't want to tell creditors what we are doing and it be detrimental to our case.

I assume it will be debt collectors who would come to our home....I'm more bothered about the neighbours seeing them to be honest! No one has been yet, but have become paranoid about it.

This forum has been an absolute life saver, we have got a meeting with our IP (who is also a family friend) on Friday to go through the paperwork, then off to court the following week.

Thanks for all your help x

Hi sunshine,

Try not to stress - it will be over in two minutes - literally - even if you see the District Judge - they will say "do you understand what bankruptcy means" "You will have to abide by the restrictions" That is it - you may not even see the Judge anyway - so then, no questions!!

As to creditors, ignore for now - if you speak say you are petitioning next week. They will not have time to do anything!!

As to the phone, speak to your provider, say you are having nuisance calls and they will give you a new number - make sure you ask for an ex directory number - they will not charge you for this and you will sleep at night!!

If anyone comes to your home (creditors, I assume you are referring to), then do not let them have access - unless your creditors have a court order and it is the bailiff attending, then they cannot do anything - a debt collector can not do anything - they cannot take goods.

Be strong - nearly there!

Regards, Richard

Hi Sunshine

I don't think there's any harm in telling your creditors, and it should stop most of them pestering you, but some will continue to call till the message finally gets through

Good luck
