Hi i have recently been laid off at the end of january and am unable to find work and am considering declaring myself bankrupt - i owe 2500 to first credit from an old c card i also owe 400 to a+leicester,858 gas bill, mobile phone unpaid etc... -i am a private tenant and am in receipt of benefits however the council are only paying me about 380 rent minus a deduction that they say i owe from before so it is actually more like 365 per month i do get jobseekers aswell(64.30 a week) but also get a deduction of 3.60 a week from that for old council tax arrears but my rent is 475 a month and also i have water bill phone bills etc outstanding as i cannot afford to pay them i have more going out than coming in and i cant survive like this for much longer i am privately renting can i still keep living here does it affect landlord etc? i have an appointment with council next week for a discretionary housing payment but doubt i will get any extra from them as i am claiming hb a c benefit so not sure that i can even claim it - my creditr rating is already screwed anyway so i am seriously considering bankruptcy.

Hello Chris,

My advice initially is to make an appointment at your local CAB and they will, I am sure, be able to assist. Your debts are not enormous and BR may be avoided.

They will also check to see you are getting the right welfare benefits

Good luck, Richard
