Hi,

My husband and I have split, and have the following problem. Am considering bankruptcy, as we have the following debts:

Mortgage £128k
Secured Loan £61k
My unsecured debt £16k
Husbands unsecured debt £20k

The house is in joint names, and so is the secured loan, but the house is only worth £145k.

Will my ex husband need to go bankrupt too?

And should I sell the house before I go bankrupt?

My car is worth £3k, it is a Vauxhall Zafira 03 car. I use it to visit clients with my work, and I have a new partner, and we have 5 children between us, so need the seats. Will I be able to keep it?

Please help?

Hello and welcome to the Forum,

I suggest that you seek some advice before jumping one way or another.

There are some of the best firms in the UK that post here - look to the experts part of the site. Once you have spoken to one or all of the financial experts, you can look at what is best.

On the car, the normal rule is £2K on value - your vehicle, from what you have said is £1K over, you may not be able to keep that one.

As I say, seek advice free first of all and then come back as necessary, Richard
