I was made bankrupt 3 weeks ago to the day but a Official Receiver has not contacted me yet. Is it mandatory for a official receiver to contact all newly bankrupt people? And if so does it take more than a few weeks.

Those cases were probably either extremely straight forward, a very small debt or very well presented with a stunning explanation of the debt( 11.2 ) and good supporting documentation.

The interview is not an inquesition but an opportunity for the OR's office to fully understand the situation and hear your side of the story.

I do know of a number of cases where an interview was not needed simply because all of the information that was needed was provided in the statement of affairs, The OR's manual refers to it as a Type 0 case, but as Reviva has said the vast majority or people do have an interview of one sort or the other

I have never met anyone whi has not had either a telephone or face to face interview - Unless they are one of our clients from abroad and the distance means that emails usually sufice.

it is really necessary for the OR to at least have a chat so that they can fully understand the situation before they write a report to creditors outlining the liklihood of them receiving any pay out etc.

Some OR offices are really busy so give it a week or two and if nothing happens then give them a call.

Its not really mandatory but is common practice, even if you are not to have an interview they will usually send a letter saying so and asking you to sign some forms, Give then a ring and see what they say
