Posted - 07 May 2010 : 21:06:52 I had my interview with the OR on wednesday,they said they will send out someone to value my car.He came out on thursday and valued it at £2500. He sent in the report to the OR but they have said they are not intersted in it and left it in the hands of the valuers who have said if i pay £500 to them i can keep the car.It is quite a coincidence that in the interview with the OR they said it would cost them £500 to send the valuer out, is the anything i can do?

Posted - 08 May 2010 : 09:59:12 You could always take it to a couple of garages to be valued. Ask for a written valuation and if it is lower than £2500 you can forward the valuations to the OR.
The other option is to allow the OR to take the car and then they will give you up to £2000 to buy another one as it sounds like they have already excluded the car from BR.
If your current car is reliable I would try to keep hold of it as you could end up getting another car that has nothing but problems and ends up costing you a lot of money for repairs.

you can challenge the valuation but you will need fairly concrete information.
if you do not pay the £500 they can choose to sell the car on your behalf.
