Posted - 08 June 2010 : 11:08:32 I have lived in France for the past two years but have continued working in the UK. I owe £10,000 to HMRC who are now threatening to apply for a bankruptcy order. I have been paying them a regualr amount every month but missed a payment, hence their reaction. I have no UK assets but I do have property in France. Can you advise me how I stand if HMRC carry out the their threat please?

Posted - 08 June 2010 : 16:04:58 yes, i've just spoken to someone more helpful at hmrc and it seems they may accept a payment to make up what i missed. it very much depends on who you speak to at hmrc as to whether they will help you or not.
