hi guys

Just checked my credit file

I have noticed 2 things and wondered if anyone could help

1) barclays have an account still open with a balance and it says i have defalted on it for months - all accounts i had were included in my bankcruptcy and i went to a local branch and were told that they had no accounts open and give all my old details and they said there was no recored of an open balance?

2)egg loan is showing defaulted but settled can i do anything about this?

3) finally is there a way you can get accounts which are settled and satisfactory off your report?

Hi,

1. You should write to Barclays asking them to update your credit file. There is a template letter at http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=677875

2. The loan should show either settled or partially settled. Check the link I put in the above answer as this has all the information about cleaning up your credit file.

3. No, the accounts will stay on your credit file for 6 years and then automatically drop off.
