Posted - 16 June 2010 : 11:35:30 Hi everyone
I finally went to court and now I am declared BR. It was the scariest thing I have ever done and I was fine until I was in front of the judge..then broke down in tears. He was ok though and stamped my paperwork. I dont feel relieved yet though..just constantly sick and nauseaus about it all. Had the first call from OR office already same day just to verify few things. Now waiting for the next step from OR.....(Brighton) I cant even look at my BR declaration without getting tearful..... I do hope things get better:)

Chester is correct in teh forms, they will also send you a buff booklet which they say must be filled in but your expert would normally have sent them a pack, so just leave it blank as the info is just duplication
if you are going to have an interview in person bring all of the forms to the interview with you adn sign them then
good luck Richard |

Posted - 17 June 2010 : 08:35:22 probably 3 forms 1 asking you what ethnicity you are 1 making sure you know the resposibilities as a bankrupt 1 getting you to allow the OR access to your tax records and if you were due a tax rebate its now his.

Don't worry or know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubble gum.(Baz Lurhman) RevivaUK and Paul Johns helped me through it all i can't recommend them enough!! |

Posted - 17 June 2010 : 08:05:01 Hi all
I would have lost my sanity if I had'nt had this forum and the support! May I ask a question today: As I am now BR and I know the OR has all my documentation and is ready for the interview next week. What documents will I now receive in the post from them? Is it a huge parcel with tons of forms and all my debt spelled out again?

Hi Most Worried
I know you prob don't feel relieved at the moment, but you will after you have had your interview.
I dealt with Brighton a nice professional man called Mr Read. You will be nervous leading up to your interview and will be worried sick, but on the day prior to your interview just have infront of you your statement of affairs and they will go through it with you page by page to clarify things.
If you have any questions to ask the OR write them down, they will ask you if you have any questions for them. Try not to worry.....just remember they are human and just trying to do their job.
At the end of it you will be able to think about your future.
Take Care

Posted - 16 June 2010 : 13:31:53 .....Just thought i`d tell you exactly how my BR went.
Whent to court in Feb 2009 (really nervous!)...within a short while, i was standing in the carpark, smiling to myself...wondering why i was sooo worried!.
Then i got the initial phone call!!...very soon after the court, arranging the official phone call from the OR, the DID get the stomach going, i must admit!.
So there i was, in my lounge, waiting for that call... It was a very nice, understanding, yet definatly official person who called me, and went through my case. I answered what i could, and gave the reasons for my bankruptcy...mostly robbing peter to pay Paul, and ill health!!. After around 45mins it was done...Not as bad as i thought!.
5 months later, i got an ED form through the post, sent it back and waited.... I checked the Insolvency register 6 months from the bankruptcy....and YAHOO!!.
So....I know your gonna post back on here, and tell us that it was easier than you thought!!. |

Posted - 16 June 2010 : 13:15:31 Yes...ita ALL normal, including your nerves!!!.
DON`T PANIC!!!....Its the start of your new life, so try to look on the positive side. I `m sure your inteview will be much easier than you thought. Any information you don`t have, the OR can get.
I`m speaking from experience!.
Your almost there!!...Try to :-)!!. |

Posted - 16 June 2010 : 12:02:18 Well done to you!....it DOES get easier, The interview with the O.R can be very straight forward, and will be over before you know it.
I have been where you are now, and so have many others. It is daunting, but sooo worth it!...and who knows, you might even get an early discharge, although early discharge is a gift, and not a right.
Remember....No more worrying about the post...or the phone calls....or Baliffs, just a much brighter future, without the cloud of debt hanging over you.
Best wishes to you.
