Hi All,

wondering if someone could give me some advice. I was declared bankrupt in oct 2009 and filled out the early discharge forms along with i&e form about 12 weeks ago. I haven't heard anything from the or since, but i received a bonus of £500 in june and have tried contacting the OR but they haven't returned my calls to find out what i wanted.

However today i received a letter asking me to pay £500 before 1st July by cheque. I understand that i need to comply with the OR and that the bonus becomes part of my estate, but first of all it was a bonus of £500 before tax, i didn't receive the full £500, i don't have a cheque book, who does when they BR. And a postal order is going to cost me around £20.

Can the OR do this, i thought they would only take a percentage, or am i wrong on this. I certainly need to question the amount i need to pay but don't want to annoy the OR and risk not getting a ED.

Can anyone advise, by the way i haven't an ipa at the moment but i did have the nt tax code applied.

Thanking you in advance.

Has anyone zny thoughts

I feel really annoyed that the OR's office has done this without contacting me first

on the rare occasions I have had overtime money RTLU have taken 70% of it and I have paid by adding it onto my IPA for that month, then reverted back to my agreed IPA the following month.

Thank you both for the advice, i contacted the person dealing with my case via email with a read receipt. Also sent a letter as i never received a response after 3 days but the day i sent the letter i received a email stating that she had spoken to her manager and that i had to send them the money i quoted receiving £355, and that i could pay by cheque, postal order or cash. The email was very vague, they haven't asked to see wage slip or anything just send them the money.

But the origional letter asked me to sign an ipa form stating that i'll pay them the set fee by the 1st July. This time they want me to just send the money. Is this the correct way to go about it.

I suppose i was hoping for a share of the money would have been nice as i've had to see an private physio due to a injury to my back and neck and i have to pay the excess costs, (so glad i have a company health insurance) god knows what pain i'd be in now if i had to wait for treatment via nhs. obviously won't have the excess if i give the or the whole fee.

Any advice would be most greatful.

Thanks

I agree with mugglewuffin, I would email the OR with a read receipt. Can you scan them a copy of the payslip as well to show that the bonus was £500 before tax?

I've got an IPA which I pay by standing order to Moon Beever, so I would imagine it would be possible to pay the money across by bank transfer.

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

35 IPA payments made, 1 to go - 6 days and counting!

Hi CFS
I received a bonus as well and the OR took 75% after deductions, I had to send my payslip to prove the amount and they worked out the tax paid.......
I always found sending an email with a read request worked for getting a response.
Take care
Steve
