hi

had a bit of bad new yesterday looks like im being made reundant form my work quetion i have is

both me and my husband are bankrupt my husband has a ipa and i dont but now we are going to need all my husbands wages in order to survive so will the or stop his payments ?

second thing is when the or worked his ipa out he put down that i payed all my wage into the house this was in order to free up money for a ipa with my husband which i think was out of order as i have no spare money for myself
if i was to get another job soon and i was discharged my self would i have to put all my wages into the bills or could i say i only wanted to pay like £200 and keep the rest for myself for xmas and birthdays as dont think its fair that i have no spare cash for myself even thou this is all about to change with my redundancy hanging over me

anyhelp would be great

You are worked out individually so it is quite possible that if he has a higher income than you (or less expenses) then he will have a surpus and you will have no surplus. They dont do a houshold surplus and then give you half and him half

im not sure what gone on with my or but they have only let us have £99 to share and they worked out that i payed all my wages into the bills and my husband had £150 left but if it was worked out that we had £99 each then there wouldnt be enough for a ipa .i think our or had it in for us, as when we went br we were told no ipa the got new i&e forms to fill in and nothing had changed and with alot of disagreeing they worked it out this way so my husband had to pay into a ipa so i have no money for myself i think the or just do what they feel like .

but this is all gunna change now with my redundancy looming :(

Unless things have changed the £99 is per person, not per household.

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

Last IPA payment made on 30th June 2010 - it's over at last!

i do totally understand about the debt being wiped off but just found it hard to understand how they say your done as idividual people when going br yet when it come to a i&e form you are not allowed your own £99 surplus each and your then treated as a couple and have to share the £99

thanks once again for all the advice this site is brill

If you are going to be contributing less to food, rent, bills, etc. then your husband should contact the OR and let them know your financial situation has changed. They will send a new I&E and you can lower your contribution on the I&E and your husband will pay less/nothing at the moment towards his IPA.

With both of you being BR you should each have completed an I&E. You should have put down the figures that you contribute towards the household on your form. If you would have had more than £99 DI then you would have had an IPA as well.

If you get another job before you are discharged then you will need to advise the OR and they will send another I&E for you to complete. While you are undischarged you don't have any real say as to how much you want to contribute to the household.

I can understand that you want to put some money aside for presents, savings, etc. but you have had all of your debts written off by your BR and being BR means that until your are discharged the OR has a big influence on your finances.
