Posted - 01 July 2010 : 19:59:23 I am going to court for bankruptcy next week.I am a bit worried that I will get in trouble with the OR because over the last few years I have spent quite a lot on foreign holidays.Obviously I was not expecting to go bankrupt then but I still owed CC debts and used CCs to help pay for the hols.I do not spend anything on going out/drinking/smoking etc and holidays are my only recreation.I need to get away from all the work and worry now and again. Will I get into trouble because of this.I am not planning any more now and will be alot more careful about my spending in the future! |

Posted - 02 July 2010 : 10:35:18 Hi debtfree4me
As Chester2005 says, the OR won't be too interested in you going on holiday over the last few years - it would possibly only make a difference if you were already in arrears with payments to your creditors at the time.
I wouldn't even mention them unless the OR's office asks.
If you are very unlucky you may get someone at the Or's office who will make a comment on it but they are few and far between these days, (I once witnessed an examiner telling a bankrupt off for going to Majorca for a fortnight when the examiner could only afford a week in a caravan in Scarborough!) but it won't be an issue as far as conduct/discharge is concerned
Good Luck

Posted - 02 July 2010 : 09:00:12 Thanks Chester,I did go on a holiday to Egypt in March but my Mum gave me the money.I have had a holiday each year but it is only the last 6-8 months that have been difficult.I suppose I could have paid extra to the CCs instead of minimum payments.Maybe the OR will say this. |

Posted - 02 July 2010 : 02:00:55 it is unlikely that the OR will be too upset over holidays a few years ago when you were affording your CCs etc if it was in the last month it would likely be different.

Don't worry or know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubble gum.(Baz Lurhman) RevivaUK and Paul Johns helped me through it all i can't recommend them enough!! |
