Posted - 18 August 2010 : 19:36:45 Hi
I understand that when one goes BR, the OR will ask for the last 12 months bank statements - no problem, I have nothing to hide.
However, one monthly entry is bound to cause some questions-
I 'lodge' with a good friend, who owns the property, and I pay £350 all in which covers renting my room and contributing to the bills. However, my payments to this person over the last however long have fluctuated between around £500 and £800 a month. The reason for this is that I don't trust myself to budget well, so I give her this extra money and she 'pays me it back' through the course of the month so that I have a weekly injection of cash so that I don't run out of money 2 weeks before payday. It helps her aswell as she gets paid weekly and I get paid monthly. It's basically making myself a child that gets pocket money!
Do you think the OR will be upset about this? Either retrospectively or going forward? |

Posted - 19 August 2010 : 23:07:31 andy as long as you can clearly explain it , it should not be a problem just it is unusual and the OR will want to clarify your position
however it is likely that with 70 a week pocket money and no explanation to your expenditure the OR will instruct you to undertake an IPA. about 150 per month
re read the entries on this thread two good bits of advice above.

I don't have records of it, it has normally just been cash given back to me, on average about £70 a week.
I know they will ask questions but I struggle to see what is wrong with that system?...it was just a different way to manage my money.

Posted - 18 August 2010 : 22:49:20 I have noticed that recently the OR is starting to ask for 2 years of statements rather than just 12 months.
depending upon your income this may not be a problem because money for food and other monthly expenses has got to come from somewhere
