Hi Lyndsey

Glad you are doing OK and that a new career is being explored.

I am doing a consultancy job as Head of Housing in a Northern local authority - enjoying it very much.

I am also doing some debt counselling and bankruptcy work - also enjoying that too

Life is good and we are moving forward with gusto - all the best for you for the future - if you want a job in Homlessness in the North West, post back and I will see what I can do - cannot recall where you live - it might be the North East that you live

Oh never thought of credit union , i used to be part of the local authority one + paid in money straight from my wage - was fab.

There is not one in my immediate area but i looked online and it appears there is a one a little further up the coast from me.

Worth a peek.

Hey housing - no im not working back in housing - i seem to have hit a bit of a wall right now and not sure if that is what i want to do anymore. Yes i had several years good experience in it but i just dont think its me any more. Im going back into "learning" in sept - teacher training ! must be mad.

I looked into joining a credit union, but unfortunately there isn't one in my area. If you've got one, I think it's a brilliant idea.

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

Last IPA payment made on 28th June 2010 - it's over at last!

I've opened a credit union account with my local credit union. You can set up a standing order to pay into it. It is not as easy to withdraw your money as you need to go into the credit union which is only open at certain times and then you fill in the withdrawal slip and can normally withdraw within a day or two. I like this as I know I can't get at the money very easily and I save for my children's school trips with this account. When I want to pay the school I then go in and order a cheque to be made out to the school and it is usually ready for collection within 2 days. This helps as obviously I don't have a cheque book and it's an easy way of paying the school for trips. Won't suit everyone but I like the inconvenience of it as I save more that way.

Went Br 20th July 2010..countdown for 1 year.

Barclays will apparently open a basic account even if they were a creditor, although they turned me down, which I'm not sorry about now as I really don't rate them.

You could try opening a second Cashminder, which is what I did, or open a savings account. Yorkshire Building Society will allow you to open one.

Congrats on being discharged

I am not sure about Barcl;ays - you can make enquiries - were they a creditor in your BR?

The Coop whilst they are a good bank will not give you a "proper account" for 6 years

Good searhing and let us know - someone may have the answer - good luck?

Are you working back in Housing now?

Richard
