Hi everyone, I haven't posted for ages. Things going quite well except one of my cats is having treatment at the vets for cystitis. The treatment, which included an ultra-sound, has come to over £650! My father helped me out with the initial payment but I still owe the vets the remainder once the treatment has completed. My insurance company are refusing to pay the claim as I put on the form that the cat had had a water infection about 18 months ago although I did not claim for it. They are still maintaining it is classed as an "pre-existing condition"!! Would I be able to miss two payments of my IPA and attach them to Month 37 and 38? Has anyone done this? and if so would it be Moonbeaver I contact or the trustee? Many thanks for your guidance. |

Aw thanks both. Will let you know the outcome. It does look like the small print of my insurance only covers a condition for maximum of 12 months but my vet is going to do their damndest. At least MB will be compassionate if no joy. |

Glad you're getting things sorted, Moonbeever allowed us a 2 month payment break to pay for an emergency car repair too, said they would just add the payments missed onto the end of our 36 months. They were very understanding but did say that 2 months was the maximum they could authorise...if more was needed then we'd have to discuss with the OR.

That's good news Frosie and well done to MB for being compassionate.
I hope the practice manager has some good luck with the insurance company as I think they are being completely unreasonable.

Fab! Update. Looks like Moonbeever will accept me to have a "holiday" break. I have had to send proof of the expenditure etc. I may not need the break if I get good news today from my vets. The Practice Manager is on the case and will be speaking to my insurance company! Heartening that I can continue with the treatment for my precious moggie without worrying about the cost. I will let you know the outcome. |

I've got pet insurance for Harry and I do worry that they might not pay out if I need to claim. He was a stray and I know nothing about his history so I can see them using that as a get out!

I made 36 payments over 37 months. I had a month's break when I had a pay cut and my IPA was reassessed.
I would definitely speak to MB, the worst they can do is say no, but being a cat lover I hope they help you xxx

no the IPA cannot be any longer than 36 months, although they may agree that it is an exceptional cost and let you off with it or they may divide up the payments so you pay a little bit extra over all the other payments, This is obviously at their discretion and they may say no but you wont know until you ask |

I haven't missed any IPA payments but I would contact both MoonBeever and the RTLU/trustee and advise them of the situation and see what they say. |
