Posted - 29 September 2010 : 18:11:35 At the Court:
You will turn up and hand your SOA in along with the BR fee. Depending up on the Court you will normally have to sit around for an hour or more so take a book and some change for a coffee from the vending machine. You may or may not have to see the Judge (prob not) but even if you do they will only want to know that you are aware of the implications of BR. After that you will be taken by the BR Clerk to an office where they will give you your BR certificate and you will normally speak to someone from the ORs office by telephone to check a couple of things i.e. name and address.
After the Court:
The OR will contact you a day or two later to arrange the OR's interview, which will normally be a week or two after the court date. During the interview the OR will go over your debts, what the debts were used for (i.e. holiday, car, general expenses, etc.), any assets (car, etc.) and your I&E. You will also receive a 'pack' from the OR explaining the BR restrictions and there will be 2 forms to sign.
After the OR's interview:
If you have a car and are allowed to keep it you will receive a letter a month or so later confirming the car is exempt from the BR. If you are going to get an IPA you will receive a letter confirming the amount and you have 14 days to sign it and return it. Shortly afterwards you will receive a letter from MoonBeevers, who are the solicitors the OR uses to collect the IPA payments and information about the payments schedule and how to set up the Standing Order.
After that it is just a case of waiting until your 12 months are up or, if you are lucky, receiving an ED. |
