No worries that you don't know where he is living - if you file for bankruptcy, your obligation to the debt will disappear. (it won't release him form his obligations though on any joint debt)

I still think you should have a chat at your local CAB though they may be able to finacially help as per my earlier post

Hi, Yeah on Incapacity, child tax and child benefit. I get full rent and full council tax too.
The debt is a repossed home, £34,000 and a couple of store cards. Thing is, the home debt is both mine, and my ex partner. But i have no idea were he is living!! It has been explained that Im still responsible for the debt as its joint, makes my blood boil tho!!
Also, not too clever with certain abrieviations, IPO for one and what utilities?
Sorry, Im at such a loss here, all over the place.

If you are on JSA/Incap you will have the £150 court fee removed. They will also not been used for the IPO calculation, so you would not receive and IPO

It may be worth your while speaking with your local CAB, if you have any utilities in your name, you may be eligible to have a 'voucher' which would fund the whole cost of the bankruptcy.

Are your debts over £15,000, if so, then bankruptcy is your route
If not, it may be worth looking at whether or not you qualify for a Debt Relief Order, again the CAB can assist

Hope this helps, Melanie
