Hi my girlfriend was declared bankrupt last tues. She owns a house with her ex partner which is close or in negative equity and in arrears. Her ex still lives in the house. He wants his sister to adopt the mortgage so he can remain living there. He is putting pressure on my girlfriend to sign some mortgage papers. My girlfriend is unsure what she should do.Her meeting with the official receiver is nov 26th.She is unsure of the procedures and timings relating to the house and doesnt want to sign anything that may get her into trouble!Your help would be much appreciated Many thanks

If a proper valuation has been carried out & the house is in negative equity then no problem. If there is some equity it would be easier all round to wait until after the bankruptcy & then sign it over.
