Following a recent court hearing the Inland Revenue want to send the bailiffs to my girlfriends house where i live and take my van and whatever goods they can sieze of mine to the value of the outstanding debt (approx. £4000 ) They agreed in court that i dont have any ownership of my girlfriends property but have said that they will enter her house and remove items if she cannot prove ownership. Her Ex husband was a wealthy man and has bought all their children presents of Tv's, Laptops etc all of which we have no receipts for let alone all the furniture and belongings that she had before i came along. I would rather move out and live rough than allow them to lose their possesions through no fault of their own. Is there any alternative?
p.s. I was considering bancruptcy anyway as i have other debts but would assume that bancruptcy would not stop the Inland revenue's bailiffs or would have its own bailiff service? please help. Colin

The onus will be on your girlfriend to 'proove' ownership

If you were to file for bankruptcy the revenue debt would be included in the bankruptcy which would in effect stop the high court enforcement proceedings, but only once the bankruptcy order is made

Hope this helps
