Hi,

My wife and I went bankrupt in Jan 2010. We separated shortly afterwards.I got an ED in September 2010.I don't speak to my wife but noticed she's still bankrupt. Under the new IPA scheme, which will be enforced shortly, If she gets an IPA will I be expected to contribute towards it?
I live with my parents and have a job now.

TIA

Even though you both went bankrupt at the same time, you are both entirely seperate cases, and you will not get an IPA now as you have been discharged. An IPA can only be obtained whilst you are an undischarged bankrupt.

No, you won't be expected to pay if your wife gets an IPA.

Congratulations on the ED.

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

Last IPA payment made on 28th June 2010 - it's over at last!

Thanks for the reply.

Even if 50% of the debt was in joint names?

TIA
