Good morning,
I haven't posted on here for a while, think I have finally relaxed slightly.
I wondered who is likely to qualify for ED and what do they base their decision on. I went BR in July 2010 for £27,000. I have no disposable income and no IPA. Just wondered if I was likely to get an ED?
Any responses gratefully received.
Went Br 20th July 2010..countdown for 1 year. |

I got ED at about 6 months, I think. (hubby the following month) I REALLY was not expecting it at all, we had a house but left it as it was in negative equity, I had left my temporary part time job so no IPA for me, so I presume the OR had finished with my case, tried for IPA from hubby, we queried it and next thing we knew, we were both discharged early so no chance of an IPA, that was the best thing, we could look to the future without worrying!  we were fully expecting to do the full 12 months so were very surprised to get ED, we are in the North West |

Hi,
as Melanie says, there is no hard and fast rule as to ED, debtor cases tend to get it more than creditor petitions especially if it is a straightforward case. Plus as Richard said it is also down to the office as well, Liverpool were quite efficient with them.
However, don't phone up asking for it as it could draw attention to yourself.

i think that it also depends on the area you live in.
Bournemouth OR very rare early discharge
Croydon OR appear organised and offer ED
however compared to other European countries a year of keeping your head down to in effect have a fresh start is not that bad at all.
Do not chase ED, let the letter come as a suprise.

Hi there, and welcome back
An ED is usually applied for when the OR has completed their administraion of an individuals bankruptcy. In usual circumstances a strightforward household debt case will receive an ED after 6 months - but there is no hard and fast rule, and whether someone obtains an ED or not bears no reflection on that individual, purely down to how quick the particular OR's office completes thier administration.
Sadly, contacting the OR to chase up the possibility of an ED rarely results in a quicker decision.
When the file is complete you will hear from the OR, but please try not to worry, it bears no relflection on you or your particular case
