hi all,
i used this site tons prior to going br jan09 and i found it invaluable for information but also for confidence

one year on from being discharged the Natwest has upgraded me from their Step account to a Current account which is a tremendous boost, the personal banker also reported that there is 77% chance of me getting a credit card too, albiet with a small limit but thats all i want anyway, once my wages go into the new account and then shut the old one i will apply and keep my fingers crossed

Keep smiling everyone you'll get there

Hi Andy,
that's good news! Nat West were one of the banks that used to be really hard on bankrupts, and in some cases would close the non bankrupts account as well, I often had people on the phone in desperation and tears, but unfortunately we couldn't intervene, as the banks can make these decisions for "commercial" reasons.

If you need help completing SOA's(statement of affairs) or PIQ's(preliminary information questionnaire) if you've been declared bankrupt, or anything else and you're within 30 miles or so of Warrington, then please contact me via my contact details in the expert page for futher details"

Thanks for the feedback Andy, and it's useful for people to know that they may be able to get a current account with NatWest. A lot of banks are still reluctant to provide discharged BRs with a current account for several years after discharge.
