Posted - 21 January 2011 : 08:10:56 my husband and i have been in an iva for a couple of months with the stipulation that i as a housewife try to find work, due to an illness in the family our son (not living at home) is starting to undergo treatment for cancer so my priorities are with him also due to changes in my husbands hrs of work we are finding it difficult to cope with the iva payments so are considering bankcuptcy. wil myself being unenployed affect this in anyway?

Does that mean the success of your IVA depend on you finding work, was it set up that, way or based on present affordability.

your first point of call should be your IVA provider, they may be able to amend figures or offer help
you will not be able to declare BR until you have certificate of failure for IVA.
but being unemployed will not affect you decision to go BR, if you are in receipt of certain types of benefit you may be entitled to a reduction in the court fees
