Posted - 25 January 2011 : 16:57:00 Hi,
Hoping someone can give me some advice. I am in a position, where after considering all options, I will be going bankrupt in the next 2 months. Im currently employed, however due to changes in my terms and conditions (working hours etc), I will be leaving my job. A friend of mine, who is fully aware of my situation, is about to set of travelling the world, and thanks to his generous redundancy payment, has offered to take me with him; effectively lending me £10,000 to do so. He has no expectations of getting this back in the next 5 years or so and is in no way an issue -he is quite adamant that I go with him.
So in effect, Im going to quit my job, penniless, and go travelling around the globe. How do I explain this situation to the OR? I will have no income until I come back. |

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

Buckle your seat belt Dorothy, 'cos Kansas is going bye bye.

Posted - 26 January 2011 : 15:37:41 Hi Richard,
Sorry, not sure what or where lasting power of attorney is?
BR is pretty straight forward - 60k in debts, unable to pay them and soon wont have a job! |

Posted - 26 January 2011 : 13:38:10 if its straight forward BR go soonest
if its complex speak to an expert and see about lasting power of attorney.

Posted - 26 January 2011 : 12:23:26 Hi - My friend is well aware of the situation. He was with me when I typed the initial query!
So as a rough timescale, say Im going in the middle of march, should I look to go BR at the start of March? |

Posted - 25 January 2011 : 19:50:05 I would recomend that you do the first part, Court and initial interview here first, this usually happens in the first month, after that just make sure you are contactable
If you friend is "lending" you £10,000 then you need to tell him abut the bankruptcy but apart from that good luck |

Posted - 25 January 2011 : 17:40:37 congratulations does he need another guide !
after declaring BR you must stay in contact with the OR but this could be done via email.
alternatly get on the plane and arrange for someone else to petition on your behalf.
have a telephone call with one of the experts just to make certain no problems
This is an opportunity of a life time GO FOR IT
