Posted - 07 February 2011 : 19:36:37 I am ready to submit my bankruptcy form but I have 1 concern :- I have been supported by my partner for the last 8 months and have contributed very little to the weekly bill as I only had 3 months of job seekers allowance after I lost my job in December 2010. The only asset I have is a car worth £5,000. I it seems fair that I should sell the car and give her a significant portion of that money. However it seems to me that the bankruptcy judge would not like that from what I have read. Please advise what I should to? Many thanks Howard

i can see the logic but you will not be able to sell the car and give her a significant portion of the cash as that would be seen as preferential treatment to a creditors.
yes you can sell the car and use the money to live on food, accomodation, BR fees etc
