hi i dont have a ipa and i am a discharge br,my husband however is discarged but had a ipa .
the thing is i need to get myself a new car as mine has just died on me and i travel alot with my work so its a must ,the only problem i have is that the money is going to have to come out of the money i give my husband for my share towards the upkeep of the house .

is this going to be ok ? will my husband have to inform the or as the amount i contribute will be alot less and this will affect the ipa will this be allowed by the or .as really im not the one br of with the ipa

any feedback would be great

Hi,

Although you say you need to buy a car, I am assuming that you will now be paying less for rent, etc than you were previously. Is that correct? If this is the case, then your husband will need to submit a new I&E in order for his IPA to be amended.

She can't keep all her money & not contribute towards household bills whether or not she's BR. If there are no figures in front of the OR they will assume a 50/50 split & set the IPA accordingly.

hi, im sorry but i really dont understand this. If it is his debt, why does she have to put her money towards paying it off before her own needs?

do mention the need for a car to them, the worst they can say is no, but you dont get if you dont ask

thanks for all the advice i will make sure my husband contacts the o.r about this dont think it will affect his ipa to much ,i earn very little and was giving him most of this to help things.
thanks again for the advice this site is worth its weight in gold ..

I would have thought the OR would have been reasonable about this, as if you can't work this will affect your husband's ability to pay his IPA.

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

Last IPA payment made on 28th June 2010 - it's over at last!

Your right, you dont have to answer to the OR, in that case if you dont want to be involved at all then the OR should just continue to take your husbands IPA at the same level regardless of whatever happens to you

or

as is actually the case, everything that effects your husbands finances is of note to the OR and they may make allowances accordingly

thanks for the reply ,

not sure really what it would have to do with the the o.r as im discharged with no ipa .have to get a car anyway as its part of my job stuck between devil and deep blue sea .i would still be giving my husband something for the bills .so guess we just fill out a new income form and send it to them .if i didnt have a job then they wouldnt get anything so something is better then nothing surly .
