Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

Posted - 21 February 2011 : 14:38:31 Just found the answer to my query on t'internet:-
It means it's late enough in the day to have a drink. It's an old sailing term: the yards on a ship are the horizontal timbers or spars mounted on the masts from which the square sails are hung; and the yardarm is the tapered end of the yard. In the Northern Hemisphere, the sun would reach the height of the end of the yard (the yardarm) at around 11 am - signaling the time for the morning tipple of grog (watered-down rum).
So...11am eh? I have some catching up to do!!!!
Cheers

My knowledge of the law & it's process is still in it's infancy but I'm learning...FAST!!!
I hope my experiences through my current BR will be of help to others posting on this forum & I'll do my utmost to help raise the occasional smile. (Watch out Richard!!)
This was my 2nd bit of Fab' news today......
Hubby has a job...YIPPEEE! Not well paid but it's a job & after him being off work due to illness it is a great bit of news for us.
I'm so happy I think I shall indulge in a sherry now that the sun is past the yard arm... (What on earth is a yard arm? I think I shall have to Google it!)
ps. not really sure what the sun looks like either.
