Any income tax owing for work done up until the bankruptcy order will be included in the bankruptcy. |

but i owe 16k from last year, i realise i will have to pay tax on anything i earn once declared bankrupt......sorry i am not bankrupt yet but just starting to get the ball rolling

If you are self employed now and bankrupt then your tax year ends in April. You have until the end of Jan 2012 to submit your accounts...whether or not you make a working profit is irrelevant . |

but surley if i earned enough i would have been able to pay in the first place, the reason i cant is because i fell out of work in november and have only just started work this week......

I am self employed. The OR told me that they may want to see my accounts for the tax year that I am bankrupt .....and if necessary ask my to pay the tax back if I earn enough to pay tax...remember that this may be after discharge. |
