hi all - i am in the process of applying for bankruptcy and i have been offered some part time work (evenings - web based) i am currently also employed full time. for the part time work i would have to be self employed. i know any extra money would possibly affect an IPA (i havent been to court yet) but my question is: would i be able to be part time self employed whilst bankrupt? thanx

Hi Flaps, I too read this forum regularly and started posting a couple fo weeks ago. I dont think I would have even considered BR as an option if it wasnt for the support and brilliant information you can get on here. When do yoou think you will be applying ??

thank you for the welcome! i read the forum daily and it has helped me in many ways to prepare for the BR - I have seen so much good advice and like the sister iva forum, i wouldnt know what people would do without it!

So glad you are getting some sound advice from both Viki & the Forum.

thanx i have chosen viki's firm to assist me. i know that some people say that you can do it yourself but i would prefer to put my BR in the hands of an expert - viki and her firm have been very helpul!

hi - yes i have been speaking to Viki W and have been given excellent advice! i also read the forum both this one and the iva one on a daily basis - i find it quite addictive to be honest, sometimes when i should actually be working..............!
Richard P Posted - 10 March 2011 : 11:08:15
No I agree but ......

I give voluntry time to local youth organisations and our church. I enjoy this contribution.

I would not enjoy as much giving my time for free to my previous employer.

Going BR gives you the opportunity to start again and realign your life. Not many people deliberatly
get themselves in debt so that they cannot pay the creditors, some times in life things happen.

If you are lucky enough to have a job that provides a good income then absolutly you must have an IPA.

have you contacted one of the experts just to make certain you have covered all bases

thanx for the reply - to be honest, i wouldnt want to avoid an IPA, after all i have got myself into debt!
Richard P Posted - 10 March 2011 : 10:40:28
yes you can

any income should form part of your income and expenditure, which potentially may form part of an IPA (income payment award)

if you are going to be going BR and you are working the extra hours just to pay and attack your debts, when you go BR this may be surplice cash and be taken from you.

I am not suggesting doing nothing and avoiding an IPA.

Richard
