i seperated from my husband 3 years ago, although his name is still on the mortgage he has made no contribution toward the mortgage in that time ( he left me £2,000 in mortgage arrears) plus other debts. i managed to clear some of those debts but it became too much for me. the house we own was in such bad disrepair when he left that if i had sold it, it wouldnt have made enough to clear the mortgage. after nearly 2 years of struggling my daughter and her partner suggested i rented the house to them as i could no longer afford to live there. unfortunately that didnt work out and i am now £4,000 in arrears with the mortgage and now have a court order on it. i still have other debts and am considering bankruptcy. what i would like to know is if i decided to go down that road what effect it would have on my new partner. would he be financialy implicated.

Hi Amanda and welcome to the forum.

So sorry to hear of all your problems. As far as I am aware your new partner will be fine as the bankruptcy would be in your name so his credit would be fine.

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and cauldron bubble.
