Posted - 17 March 2011 : 21:54:28 Hi, a while ago there was a post about a persons details being searchable on google but I don't remember what the answer was. If I go BR will details of this be on google? As I am self this could cause alot of problems and I could very well lose work as a result. If it is true, are there any exceptions? After all, surely it is better for me to earn money so I can pay back? |

Posted - 18 March 2011 : 09:14:29 I remember the posting refered to. I had a look myself and found that if you enter a nameof a person from the Insolvency Register who has a BRU then it DOES pop up on google & gives the information from the register, with detailed reasons for the BRU!! I tried 3 different names & they all showed up. Doesn't seem to happen with standard 'BR' names though!!

Posted - 18 March 2011 : 08:45:14 I don't expect to have no consequences but surely it's in everyones best interests that i can earn money because then I can pay money back. Also, I already feel ashamed and guilty at being in this position without my details being all over the internet. Before the internet it would only have been in the paper, once, not constantly popping up everytime someone typed in your name, for all eternity. |

Posted - 18 March 2011 : 06:42:20 I think people are just worried that their friends will find out if they are messing about and putting people's details in for a bit of a laugh.
I wouldn't be happy if mine came up.

Posted - 18 March 2011 : 06:38:39 the google seach does not brig up the insolvency register entry, what it does sometimes do is bring up the london gazette entry, you can write to the london gazette and ask them to make it non searchable. but bankruptcy is a public matter, if people choose not to do business with you because of the bankruptcy then that is their choice, that is the whole point of making it public, to give people the option, you cannot expect the bankruptcy to have no consequences |

Posted - 17 March 2011 : 23:04:19 There aren't many people with my name so I guess this means it will come up more or less straight away.. |

Posted - 17 March 2011 : 23:00:21 My name is unusual too..so does this mean it's more likely to come up? I'm really worried about this as I think it will really affect my ability to get work.. |

Posted - 17 March 2011 : 22:58:09 It all depends - my details are on the register but if you google me I come up as a singer, a real estate agent, an author but nothing to do with the real me!

Posted - 17 March 2011 : 22:46:33 When I did my IVA, a google search brought my insolvency register details up, my maiden name was very unusual though. So I guess it depends on your name.
