I sent letters recently to our previous lenders, I got the letter from this site on which it advised the lenders to mark the debts as settled, however one of the lenders Nat West have responded with the following -
Further to your request to mark the credit agency files as satisified due to your discharge from bankruptcy I regret that it is not this departments policy to do so. The outstanding balance will remain on your record for 6 years from the date of registration. The bank has a duty to be a responsible lender. It would not be resonable to register the debt as satisfied where the dabt has clearly not been repaid.
In this instance the bank is prepared to mark your file as partially satisfied.
Are they allowed to do this, as all my other lenders have now marked as satisfied my accounts.
Thanks

different banks record and mark it different ways
you can put a notice of correction on the file but that only lasts a short period but if perhaps you are needing a credit file check for renting a property, with a notice of correction that allows you space for a brief explanation.
as stated both files partially satisfied and satisfied will drop off after 6 years.
when you check your credit file have a look through the sub pages and check that your bankruptcy and discharge details are on the file.

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.
