Hi all.

I became bankrupt on March 10th. The Examiner has indicated an IPA of £390/m is expected. My question is: would the IPA be expected to run for a full 36 months; are there any circumstances in which it wouldn't? Many thanks, I await your expertise.

Great news Sid!

Double, double toil and trouble;

That's really good news!

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

Last IPA payment made on 28th June 2010 - it's over at last!

Hi,

I have just spoken to my OR Examiner (or more pointedly her Admin Support - a wonderful woman) and she has informed me (after consulting the Examiner) that funding for an MSc can and will be included in any expenditure allowance against an IPA.

So, the maxim: 'Ask and ye shall receive', is true in this instance.

I'm delighted!

Put it like this, you have nothing to lose by asking (and this applies to all other expenditure) - the OR can only say no.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

'you wont know until you ask sid'

I will be doing the very same in the 'morrow. In the absence of a definitive answer guys, I'd appreciate opinion: Would such - asking for 'cost' of MSc to be included in any IPA allowable expenditure - be feasible?

Traceyjr,

Many thanks. Your blog and posts are most informative...a mine of information!

It's 36 months from the date of the first payment, which isn't necessarily the date the IPA was agreed. Mine was agreed in April but I didn't make the first payment until the end of June.

Richard,

Many thanks for the prompt response. I've had a look 'round the site and forums and must say I'm delighted to have stumbled upon such a valuable resource: there really is an awful lot of practical expertise here. 36 months (gulp) it is!

One specific IPA question for you experts: would it be possible to include 'training/education costs' in any allowance? I have the opportunity to study for an MSc at a reduced rate (£90/m over 2 years), sanctioned and supported (not financially) by my employer. My thinking is ask my OR Examiner to include such! What would be any likely response?

I await your thoughts.

normally 36 months from date you agree

if your circumstances change (seriously reduced or No income) they may agree to no payments but duration is still 36 months.

Richard

Good Luck Richard,
