Posted - 30 March 2011 : 21:06:27 Hi All,
I'm wondering if you anyone can advise me on the following,
I was declared bankrupt on 7th October 2009, Discharged on the 27th July 2010. I kept my job and haven't changed employment, but didn't have any surplus income for a IPA.
However I did agree to a NIL Tax code with the OR, which started in December 2009, I also received a coding notice to confirm this. The final NIL Tax code was obviously in March 2010, where I then received a new tax code for April.
All the tax paid to me from my employer was then passed on to Moonbeever as requested.
Today I received a letter from HMRC, saying that they understand that was declared bankrupt in October 2009 and now require me to complete a self assessment tax return for the year ended April 2010.
Has anyone come across this before?, I have never completed one of these forms before as I thought that HMRC received all the information they needed from my Employer. I have all the paperwork that they require, but I've started to worry that they now want the TAX back that was due to them during my NT tax code.
Is this a mistake? can anyone please advise.
Thanks in advance. |

does this mean that the tax I should have paid hmrc during the nt tax coding, now become liable for me to pay.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
