Posted - 08 April 2011 : 11:40:26 Hi All
I need to take out some breakdown cover for my car. I did not include this expenditure on my original SOA form and I want it after having a rather costly bill after breaking down on the motorway and having to pay £180 to be towed off!!
Looking at the different levels of cover they vary in price. Can I take out the cover which includes home break down or is it just the basic cover they will allow with your income and expenditure?
I think the home breakdown cover is an extra £6.00 per month?
I do not have an IPA and have just finished paying my NT IPA to Moonbeaver. I am 8months into my BR waiting to hear back from the OR
Many thanks

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.
Last IPA payment made on 28th June 2010 - it's over at last! |

Posted - 08 April 2011 : 17:16:42 I claimed approx £8 per month RAC cover at the start of my BR.I am self employed and having a car up and running is vital to earn my living. You are allowed basic breakdown cover but it’s up to you to argue your case for your situation. |

I think that if you can afford to pay for the breakdown cover then you should be ok. You can always take the money from your other allowances if you have any spare.
