Posted - 07 June 2011 : 17:19:43 short version: My builder went bankrupt (Sep 2009- I learned of it last week). Long version: Summer 2009 he quoted to install a conservatory and install a flat roof. Roof leaked, so payments were witheld till at least Oct 2009, at which time the 'fixes' appeared to have been successful. At that time he was paid approx 2400 pounds.
The 'fixes' failed last year, and with bad weather it was all sheeted up till springtime 2011; I'm not convinced that the management company even knew about these works, so what can I do now? He says he can't pay for the 600 quid materials

Posted - 07 June 2011 : 18:10:49 I'm afraid that you are legally stuffed. Unless you paid by creditcard (joint liability) or had an insurance backed guarantee. Then his liabilty for any shoddy work died with the bankruptcy, The only very slim hope other than above is to claim in the bankruptcy and you will get a share of any assets recovered (if any)
