Posted - 10 June 2011 : 13:19:43 I have tried to run a business as a sole trader for the last 3 years, have made a total hash of it and am in now in so much trouble, i feel theres no way out apart from doing something stupid. please help.
I want to go bankrupt as i am not sure the relationship with my partner is strong enough to commit to an IVA. and if i was left on my own with the kids i wouldnt be able to make the payments.
I'm scared i'm going to get into a load of trouble if i go bankrupt as i have been totally useless in keeping accounts, i have wasted money trying to make more money to keep the business going, including trying currency trading ( i dont know if thats classed as gambling) theres 130 kids in the sports club which are housed in the building i rent. most of the debts i have are business rent and business rates and the gas bill.
any advice would be gratefully recieved

Posted - 11 June 2011 : 17:07:08 Blackie, I don't think you are allowed to suggest that people contact you directly.
The poster should just be pointed in the direction of the experts link so they can contact someone from there.
The world is broken, halos fail to glisten We try to make a difference but no one wants to listen Hail the preachers, fake and proud Their doctrines will be cloud Then they'll dissipate like snowflakes in an ocean

Posted - 11 June 2011 : 16:41:15 Hi Terriegym
As Traceyjr has so rightly pointed out, there are options that are open to you, other than the IVA which you mention. However to go over them all on this forum would take an awfully long time. I do suggest, as Tracey mentioned that you do give an expert a call to discuss things. I am more than happy to speak things through with you on a free, impartial basis.
Please contact me this evening if you are so worried.
Maybe speak to you later.

Posted - 11 June 2011 : 13:46:32 If you speak to an expert they will be able to talk through all of your options. They won't be able to tell you what to do (beware of anyone who does that!) but once you have all the details you will be able to make an informed decision. Take your time and ask as many questions as you need to.

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

Posted - 10 June 2011 : 16:00:16 Hi and welcome to the forum.
First of all, don't do anything stupid as there is a solution out there for you. I know very little about business debts so hopefully one of the experts will be along soon.
You can contact any of the professional experts who post on here - their contact details are in the experts' section at the side of the page. Alternatively you can contact an Insolvency Practitioner - I know you have doubts about sn IVA but an IP will be able to discuss all your options. Have a look on www.iva.com.
Good luck and please keep posting for advice and support x
