Hi Bladerunner,

I am moving into a new rented property in the next 2 weeks, which means my rent has increased. I have already contacted Moonbeever and will be sending them the new I&E in due course, hoping they accept the new costs. My current rent is £265 and will increase to £400 per month, which is still pretty damn reasonable, so I shouldn't imagine they will quibble over it. The reason I am moving is because for the past 3 years I have been living in a very rough estate and it has gradually become worse over the past 6 months and I have now got to the point where I have to move for my own health and sanity. If that's not a good enough reason, I don't know what is?lol

We also went through a letting agency, which I feared would ask for a guarantor, but strangely enough they didn't ask for that in the end, although we had one lined up just in case. So all good really. I should point out that I have been discharged since March last year, so maybe that helped, I don't know. Obviously my credit rating is still ruined for at least the next 4 years anyway.

I just wished I had visited the letting agencies sooner, but I just thought it would have been a waste of time, due to my recent bankruptcy, etc. I would definately go and have a word with them as nothing is cut and dried and you never know until you ask.

Good luck.

There is nothing to stop you renting another property - just bear in mind the rent costs - you would find the OR may question any increase in monthly rent without a valid reason such as extra bedroom needed for child, or nearer to place of work etc) The only difficulty you may face is that you may need a guarantor, as with most rental agencies you would not pass the credit check due to the bankruptcy status on your credit file.
Good luck!
