Posted - 30 August 2011 : 20:49:18 I was discharged from bankruptcy in May 2009. I have not cleared up my credit file. Is it true the file will clear itself up after 6 years anyway? What happens after 6 years? Many thanks Angie |

Posted - 31 August 2011 : 11:20:57 Hi Angie,
You need to clean up your credit file and make sure none of your creditors have issued defaults after your bankruptcy date. If they have you need to contact them, if they haven't then the defaults will drop off at the same time as the bankruptcy.

Posted - 31 August 2011 : 10:21:39 Any defaults will remain 6 years after they were issued regardless of bankruptcy? If defaults are issued is not bankruptcy the next step? How does bankruptcy go away after 6 years and defaults still remain? Any totally confused? |

Posted - 30 August 2011 : 22:07:59 After 6 years the BR will drop off your credit file. Any defaults will remain until 6 years after they we issued, regardless of whether your BR has dropped off.
