Posted - 04 October 2011 : 21:55:50 Hi, Quick question Will be declaring bankrupt once I have save uo the £1400. Will i need to apply for a new bank account, even if i have no debts, overdrafts,loans etc with my current bank? Do they automatically freeze all accounts you hold. Thanks Eva

Posted - 08 October 2011 : 07:19:51 If you are with HSBC or First Direct then you need to change even if they are not one of your creditors - they actively trawl the Insolvency Register and will close your accounts even if they are not a creditor.

Yes you will need to open a new bank account which is bankruptcy friendly. You can check with your current bank, but I recommend the Co-Operative Bank Cashminder account.
