Posted - 28 October 2011 : 18:37:53 I declared myself bancrupt in June 2009 and was discharged the following year, my parents are making a will and are worried that any inheritance could be seized, is this the case and if so then how long after discharge can a claim be made. Thanks |

Posted - 29 October 2011 : 17:03:21 As your parents are still alive, then it doesn't matter what they leave you and when it goes through, nothing can be claimed now.

As you are discharged and there is no inheritance yet, then it's yours to keep whenever you get it.

Posted - 28 October 2011 : 19:40:56 As far as I'm aware you would only need to declare an inheritance if the person leaving the money died before you were discharged.

Last IPA payment made on 28th June 2010 and I'm now looking forward to getting married in September 2012 - I'm proof that you can go BR and come out the other side. |
