My partner has lived with me for just under 2 years, however his name is not on the mortgage as I have already paid the mortgage off. I have recently taken to court by an previous employee and there is a possibility I might have to pay their costs if the case goes to court. If this happens the cost too me will be very high. My partner is on the electoral roll at my address and is also registered for poll tax at my address with this mean that 50% of the house could be classed as his or would the courts consider that 100% of the equity in the house is mine and therefore can be taken off me to pay for the court costs. My partner has contributed to the running of the house in the last 2 years but by paying for home improvements and not by paying bills. I am obviously worried that as his name does not appear on the any paper work in relation to the house he will not be considered part owner.
