Posted - 24 November 2011 : 03:23:27 Hello All and Thank you
After much help from the forum I filed for BR 10 days ago and I can tell you that although my head was telling me that everything would be OK, nobody told the butterflies in my tummy.
The clerk at the court was lovely. She just checked over my paperwork, asked if I knew the implications and had taken advice, told me to wait while she showed the judge the papers then 20 mins later took my fee and phew.. it was done!
Then 2 days later the OR called, a nice lady who asked again if I had taken advice, where I had obtained the money for the fee and a few more questions just confirming what I had written on the SOA. I was expecting to have a face to face interview, which I was dreading, because I had been self employed but she said no, we can do it over the phone.
I sent in my accounts, bills and bank statements then had copies of everything ready in front of me when she called expecting to have the third degree over every tiny detail and feeling sick with worry because this whole losing my business thing has upse me so much that I have really tried to put it out of my mind. I was worried that I had done too good a job at forgetting and wouldn't be able to answer things.
I needn't have worried. She was lovely. They aren't trying to trip you up or be difficult Having worked in highly regulated industry I know that sometimes you have to be seen to ask certain things even when you have the answers in front of you. Anyway, 20mins later it was done. I'm not earning so I won't have an IPA and if I still have no income by the time I get discharged, I won't ever have one (didn't know that before)
The process has been quick and easy. There is a chance of early discharge when she does a review at 6 months. I couldn't have stayed sane (although some would argue that I never was) without the help and support of this forum.
Thanks and hugs to all Bone |

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.
Last IPA payment made on 28th June 2010 and I'm now looking forward to getting married in September 2012 - I'm proof that you can go BR and come out the other side. |
