Posted - 02 December 2011 : 10:52:56 Hi I was declared bankrupt in may 2006 and have recently tried to obtain a credit but have been declined. Why is this? I thought that once my bankruptcy had been discharged and 6 years had gone by I would be able to obtain credit again. Is this not the case? Thanks.

You do need to enclose a copy of your discharge certificate.

You need to check all 3 credit reference agencies, experian, equifax and call credit and see what information is on there as you may need to clean up your credit file.
