Hi I was declared bankrupt in may 2006 and have recently tried to obtain a credit but have been declined. Why is this? I thought that once my bankruptcy had been discharged and 6 years had gone by I would be able to obtain credit again. Is this not the case? Thanks.

also remember that if you do nothing in the 6 years, you will essentialy have no credit history rather than bad credit history which is almost as mad, you generally have to start small and work your way up

You may find that you have defaults added after the date of default - if so then you need to contact the creditors concerned to tell them to remove the defaults.

You do need to enclose a copy of your discharge certificate.

Follow through
Make your dreams come true
Don't give up the fight
You will be alright

Hi Samantha,

You need to check all 3 credit reference agencies, experian, equifax and call credit and see what information is on there as you may need to clean up your credit file.
