Hi Guys,

I've been popping in and out of here for the last year. I've been riding the first year of my Bancruptcy storm and (I think) due for discharge on 3rd March. However, I have heard nothing from my trustees - is that a good sign? If I am discharged from BR does that mean I owe nothing? And can I now go out and get a better paid job without the BR 'police' coming to claim any extra pennies that I earn?
Also, I'd like some advice on rebuilding credit reports post BR, so if anyone has any advice tha would be greatly appreciated :)

It depends upon what their employment criteria is - some places (police force is one example) will not employ a discharged bankrupt for some years afterwards.

Thanks Jan,

That helps confirm what I thought.

I'm applying for other jobs now that my year is nearly up. How can potential employers discriminate against me for being a discharged bankrupt?

Once you are discharged then that is it. You owe nothing to your creditors and I believe that if you are discharged and have no IPA then that is it.

You can get another job but make sure that whatever you do does not discriminate against BR.

Your BR will remain on your credit record for six years from the date you were declared BR so you don't need to do anything in a hurry,
