I think the Co-op's main criteria is that you're on the electoral roll so if that is the case the OP needs to make sure they are on it.

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

Last IPA payment made on 28th June 2010 and I'm now looking forward to getting married in September 2012 - I'm proof that you can go BR and come out the other side.

If it is an Electoral Roll problem though, the Co-op are also likely to turn the application down.

A good account to apply for is the Co-Op Cash Minder account - they are very good at opening basic accounts for people with debt problems, but you do not need to have debt problems to have an account, just a very good basic bank, and come highly recommended by many forum users. Melanie

It may be to do with the electoral role, are you registered at the address you are living?

Hi and welcome.

You can check your credit rating with Experian, Call Credit and Equifax. It will cost you £2 a time.

Unfortunately banks can decline you without a reason. I've had it happen to me before now.
