Posted - 25 April 2012 : 18:06:24 I went to Barclays today as I have a cash card account with them.
They have told me that unless the OR tells them to they won't freeze or close my account.
However I am thinking maybe it's a good idea.. clean slate and start again etc.
with a Barclays Cash Card account you also get a chip and pin visa debit card.
Should the OR insist I know I can get another with Barclays or the co=op and thanks Carl for the info! :) |

Posted - 25 April 2012 : 11:22:01 Hello
I opened a CoOp cash minder Account a month before declaring myself BR. It is the best Bank Account I have ever had and the CoOp are fantastic to deal with.
My only issue with the account is that the Internet banking facility is not always an "upto date " balance and I have tripped myself up on occasions not budgeting myself properly. Also although the card says it is a Visa Debit card it is actually a "Visa Electron" which for some reason doesn;t allow you to pay for petrol at the pump at Tescos and Asda.
The Account was opened over the telephone and quite quickly.
I have also opened the Barclays Basic Current Account as well as a spare account. Again they were helpful and friendy. The only positive with this account is that the debit card is an actual "Visa Debit" card.
Its down to personal preference I think
Good luck

Posted - 24 April 2012 : 22:29:00 Hi and welcome.
You can try Barclays or the Co-op as they are bankruptcy friendly and your BR will remain on your credit file for six years from the date you declared so you may not get one anywhere else.
Do you not already have an account?
