Hello, my name is Anthony. i'm 37 from South Wales and in a desperate situation. Back in Febuary i suffered a stroke and have been diagnosed with a brain diesease called 'CADASIL' which among many things causes Strokes, so at the moment I am trying to recover from, all the typical symptoms of a stroke. So I am unable to work, no money, just split from my partner who lived with me, but all debt and mortgage in my name. I think i have about £40k debt in unsecured loans credit cards etc. I ahve little or no equity in my home.I am no running out of all money to pay my monthly bills. I am in a desperate situation now and worrying if I go bankrupt I will lose my home, I cant now work and hve no money if i lost my home. Having suffered a bad stroke, stress is a factor I should avoid. But how can I? Being ill like this. How can i survive a bankrupcty. I dont have money for an IVA or similar. Please can anyone help or advise?
P.S I did not type this as I can't use my hands properly :(

You could look to taking out an IVA - pop over to the sister forum www.iva.co.uk and also visit www.iva.com for a list of companies and reviews and give one or two a ring for some free advice.

The only way you will be able to get in touch with pcoventry is by the Adminstrator passing on email details. They can't be posted on here.

HI Anthony,

I'm in the same boat as you reference to Feburary and Work. Mine was towards the end of Feb. I am 35. I live near Cardiff

Not had anything conclusive yet.. got a stay in Hospital soon to see what they can see.

I went BR for the same reason as you want to. Now I know that It's unlikely I will have to pay anything back because I am on Benefits. I had to go BR because I had already lost my home so I can't comment on that one

But if you need a chat mate I am here - and I sort of know what your going through.

Hi Anthony,

I replied to your email you sent me, did you get it?

I've copied and pasted my reply below:

If you were to declare bankruptcy, if your home is in negative equity, then it will be valued again in 2 years and 3 months time. If there is still no equity, then the interest the OR have in your property will return to you, if there is any equity, then they will want it.

If you declare bankruptcy, then all of your unsecured debt will be written off, but you would still need to pay your mortgage if you want to keep your home.

Can you do this?

Hi guys, thought this may be a difficult one. Is there anyone who has any suggestions? Sorry to ask again.

Hi Anthony and welcome to the forum.

I'm so sorry to hear about your health problems.

I would suggest you speak to one of the experts who post on here - their advice is free and they will be able to advise you based on your circumstances.

I've been BR myself and while it is stressful it's less stressful than being in debt. I know that's no comfort to you at the moment but it is possible to come out the other side and move on x

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

Last IPA payment made on 28th June 2010 and I'm now looking forward to getting married in September 2012 - I'm proof that you can go BR and come out the other side.
